Objective
This Quality Management Guide is designed to outline the fundamentals of quality development in the area of Student and Academic Services to people both within and outside the University, as well as clarifying the elements of good teaching and the necessary procedural steps.
The guide should provide university employees with guidance on the practice and administration of teaching and learning. In this respect, it should be seen internally as a procedural guide, because it documents every quality-related process and its steps, sets out standards for implementation, and provides references to further information. At the same time the guide offers information on all the evaluation and survey tools generally used in the area of Student and Academic Services and the added value of the results they yield for ongoing development in that area.
The guide should also document the process for assessment of existing measures and reveal potential for further independent development of standards of quality of teaching and learning with the aim of reinforcing the strategic capacity for action in Student and Academic Services and achieving autonomy in relation to the quality management of teaching and learning. Evidence of a functioning quality management system and visible high quality standards can also make the organisation more attractive to outside students and academic staff.
Finally, the guide also offers students at the University a summary of the advice and support services available centrally and throughout the University in the area of Student and Academic Services.
