How the Structured Interview works

The structured interview was developed at the University of Göttingen in order to survey graduates from small degree programmes because analysis of the quantitative survey is only deemed practical with at least ten participants since this is the only way to guarantee that survey participants are anonymous. Interviews (telephone or face to face) are conducted and analysed using agreed questions on central topics from the quantitative survey. This tool is not utilised centrally but rather the faculties decide for themselves whether they wish to make use of it. Since there is no filtering in the quantitative survey of graduates according to the parameters of the individual degree programmes, the survey that is carried out centrally first involves inviting all graduates from the relevant graduation year to take part in the survey, then the faculties can subsequently decide whether a further survey is necessary. As the accreditation process requires evidence at degree programme level, an alternative must be found for small subjects where such analysis has often not previously been possible.
