System Accreditation/Internal Accreditation
In autumn 2017, the Presidential Board of the University of Göttingen decided to move from programme accreditation to system accreditation and thereby provide greater autonomy for the university regarding the quality assurance (QA) of its degree programmes.
In contrast to programme accreditation, where the individual degree programme or a degree programme cluster is audited to see if it meets minimum standards, the internal university management and quality management in Student and Academic Services is the subject of system accreditation. System accreditation is supervised by the Zentrale Evaluations- und Akkreditierungsagentur Hannover (ZEvA) and is still carried out in accordance with the procedural law applicable to degree programme accreditation until the end of 2017. The procedure is currently suspended. The external expert group has recommended that the University of Göttingen revise parts of its QM system and aim for a re-accreditation procedure in spring 2025. The University intends to proceed accordingly.
