Objectives of Course Evaluation
The key objectives of ensuring the quality of teaching and where necessary improving it are pursued at three levels:
Feedback between teaching staff & students
Structured feedback from students to teaching staff on how they perceive academic quality can firstly document the quality of teaching and secondly identify potential for improvement. Using this tool, students and teaching staff can conduct feedback discussions based on data during the course.
Faculty Quality Management
Aggregated data can be used to check, discuss and document at faculty level that specific quality standards are met. These can include for instance: the transparency of performance requirements, the subjective assessment of learning or the overall assessment. Results from the teaching staff survey provide insight into the students, as well as organisational conditions and premises. In this context, the free-text responses from questionnaires often provide crucial data for developing measures.
General Quality Management
The tool also helps to provide transparency throughout the University concerning how students perceive academic quality, as well as providing information to the Presidential Board, Senate and Foundation Committee.
