Analysis and Use of Results from Quantitative Data Collection
Student and Academic Services compiles comparative reports covering the entire University for the faculties and central bodies. In addition, since autumn 2012 the faculties have been provided with faculty-specific data on each graduate year group surveyed, for their own analysis. The quality management team at Student and Academic Services is also available if necessary to provide advice on interpretation of the specialised data. Fundamentally, the results for different areas can benefit the development of the University and improvement of the faculties’ offerings. Examples include the following areas:
- As part of quality assurance in the course of accreditation of degree programmes evidence must be provided from graduate surveys and concerning the application of their results.
- Analysis of the graduates’ assessments enables targeted development of key competencies training.
- In the Student Advisory Service and in particular with regard to vocationally-oriented advice, the results on study and career progress can stimulate further development of the service.
- For the faculties, the results offer the opportunity of comparing expectations regarding the acquisition of skills and the vocational fields in which the study programmes are put into use with the practical experiences of their graduates.
- In work with alumni, the results can indicate the graduates’ relationship to their faculty, degree programme or University.
Opportunities to systematically feedback results of the survey into the ongoing development of teaching and learning are constantly being developed. A combined reporting system that allows comparison and alignment of the results generated by the survey of graduates with other results such as those from the evaluation of teaching practice, or others, is published within the teaching report.
